As a Game Master, you want to provide the best experience to your players while keeping your preparation time to a minimum. Having illustrations for your encounters, whether they are friendly chats or epic battles, can take your TTRPG games to the next level and improve your players' immersion. With your monthly subscription to Czepeku Tokens, you will get access to the full catalogue of available tokens as well as more than 20 new tokens each month. And if you pick the Gallant Ranger tier, you will be able to use the Token Builder, which gives you full customization of each token: change the token's colours, add or remove accessories, pick your favourite frame and customise the background! You can try the Token Builder here for free to get a feel of all the possibilities. In this article, we will explain how to use the Token Builder.
Choose Your Token
Visit the tokens database to choose the perfect token for you: do you need an unhinged goblin driving a chariot or a serious hobgoblin to stand guard? Browse the dozens of tokens available or use the search bar to filter by name or tags. In this article, we will use the Bugbear token so you can follow along with the demo if you haven't subscribed yet! If you don't want to fully customize your token, you can pick one of the presets on the left. If you want to change colours or part of the token, click "Customize Token" on the right side of the screen and start personalizing your token.
On the left, you will see the different sections of customization: colors, accessories, frame, and background. We will guide you through each part of the customization.
Generate a Random Token
If you want a quick customization option without changing each element separately, you can use the randomizer! Simply click on “Randomize”, next to either the presets for the tokens or in the top right corner when you’ve opened the customizer, and cycle through the offerings until you find one that’s perfect for you.
Change Colours
Click "Colors" in the Settings menu, and you will see all the available colours appear on the right side of the screen. Each block can be expanded to display a few default colours, but if those don't match what you had in mind, click the colour icon with the brush and choose your own! You can move the cursors around or directly enter a hex value for your custom colour. You can also hover any of the other default colours to see what changes on the token.
Change Accessories
Click "Accessories" in the Settings menu to change your token's clothes, weapons, hair, nose,… Once again, you can hover your cursor on any accessory to see the change in your token. Once an accessory is selected, the associated colours will be displayed in the block to allow you to change them again. If you remove an accessory, the associated colours will disappear from the menu. Be aware that changing a colour in an accessory menu might affect other pieces of the token (for example, the "metal" colour of a weapon might also be used for the metallic part of an outfit).
Change the Frame
Click "Frame" in the Settings menu to change the token's frame: the more complex styles come with colour presets, but you can always change the colours by expanding the "Colors" menu. New frames will be added with time, so be sure to check this menu often!
Change the Background
The last step is to change the background of your token. As of now, you have three options for your background: a solid colour, a linear gradient, or a radial gradient. The gradients allow you to choose two colours, as well as the placement and strength of the gradient.
Enjoy Your Personalised Token!
Once you're happy with how your token looks, you just have to download it by clicking "Download" at the top right of the screen. Check out our guide on how to download a token if you want more information! Please note that customisations are not saved, so if you leave the page without having downloaded an image of your token, your personalisation choices will be lost.
